Hi Laura,
I didn't actually "attend" the Mapleleaf party last night for the kids' playground... but I heard you sing from about 5 houses down the street on my back porch... you sounded wonderful! I'm a harmonica player from Baton Rouge, LA... happily married and working for an engineering firm in BHAM.
Very, VERY nice to hear you last night. Our group is playing for the OktoberFest in Ferndale (Pioneer Park, barn in back).
Warm regards,
Mike Thoreson

Loving this new CD SUNDAYS!!! My sister-in-law and I listened to it in the car on a weekend trip. Makes me so homesick for Texas! Lyrics, arrangements, all just lovely, and of course your voice is terrific. You really control the songs very well vocally, you know just exactly how to do it. I don't want to say "polished" because that sounds too artificial and you don't sound artificial at all. Also I thought a very good job of sequencing. And all VERY good musicians and fine production. I don't hear anything better out of Nashville, and I live there! Two of my favorites are Hot Texas Sun ( and Meet Her. My sister-in-law liked Dusty Road the best, and we both loved The Griz! But I love all the songs, not a clinker in the bunch, and they all stand out as "individuals."
Anyway, hope I will get to hear you play live sometime!! Maybe this summer!

Stagecoach Show must've been great.
I couldn't make it there as I don't drive due to strokes. Loved the video though!

Any Old Time: Musically, your song sounds like it is rich, varied, and wide in scope even though there's only, what, maybe six instruments, two of which are used sparingly. The lyrics are positive and they're probably the exact words a man wants to hear from a woman he has strong feelings for. Your liquid-smooth vocals compliment the music, especially during the chorus. That's when all the instruments and your voice alter between being in harmony with each other and going in different directions. It works extremely well. The guitar does not have the typical country sound to it, giving the song a unique sound.

Purest you've conjured. Very progressive in throwback medieval melodic and rhythmic changes combined with tasteful lead. Another niche you're dovetailing.

It's got a Sun records Jordanaires feel to it. Sounds like one singer backup multiplexed. You have a great prescence, soft yet to the point.Unique talent.
I normally listen to artists for the for the first time live with my back to them. Take out the visual you can detect more nuances.

My first time listening to you live Laura, along with the 3 player back-up group at Honey Moon (Bellingham) last night, an excellent performance by all. Your voice is a treat, and you use it so very well in a pleasing blend with other players. I will very definitely have to buy your CD's. And I am looking forward to hearing you again soon at Wild Buffalo (3/12) and again at Honey Moon (4/12).
