Laura Overstreet: Have a listen

As Is

(Laura Overstreet)
Music and Lyrics by Laura Overstreet
I think people should wear a t-shirt that reads "As Is" just like the sign on used cars on the lot.
My friend called me last night with a desperate voice
She said, “I can’t believe I’ve gone and made another bad choice”
“That man that I’ve been seeing hasn’t done what he said
And I’m starting to wish I was somewhere else instead”
I said “I haven’t done much better, no doubt. But there’s one little thing that I finally figured out”

As is, you’re gonna have to take him as is
And there are no guarantees
As is, you’re never gonna change him
You’re gonna have to leave or just agree to disagree
As is

She said “I see what you mean when you put it that way
But I still can’t understand why they won’t do what they say
He promised he would change for the better
As soon as he was sure me and him would stay together
But now he’s just the same as all the men I’ve known before
He’d better straighten up or I’m walking out that door

She said “You’re not too helpful” I said “I’m not a fool”
“How far would that man get if he were trying to change you
But go ahead if you want, you can try
I don’t think it’ll happen, you’re only gonna cry
I know you get more warning when you buy a used car
But the same rules apply, you won’t get very far
